The first game I remember playing in the arcades was double dragon. I think games get better over the years. old arcade games had slowing down when there were alot of sprites on the screen. so new arcade games came out that were just as fun but less of a hardware slowdown.
refering to 3D games as simulators might make the games sound a bit intimidating, they can be fun and easy enough to play as the old games.
Just because a game is 3D or has 6 buttons, you shouldn't turn it down with out giving it a try.
I still play the old games, and any game no matter what year it is or what system its on. The gamer decides what he or she likes.
