: : Hey everybody,

: : I read the long post below about classic gaming and I agree. My opinion may be biased though as I grew up with these early arcade games (Im 30). I have always wished or thought this though:

: : I remember thinking back when the C64 was the talk of the town that I couldnt wait for more powerful computers to come out so we could have the same type of games with more levels. Instead what happened is after the crash of 1984 Nintendo bounces back with a game called Super Mario Brothers. Ok it took some getting used to, the game moved sideways, wierd, but the concept that was hardest to get used to was the fact that the score didnt matter, we needed to get to THE END. Recently, I have had the idea, what if they brought back some of the classics, and Im not talking about that 3D crap. What if they remade Donkey Kong with all the original levels, but with numerous new levels as well. Imagine playing Donkey Kong with 50 to 100 different levels rather then being limited to the original 4. The play of the game would be the same as the original, but with many more levels. Anyways, just a thought I had.

: : Spy!

: GREAT IDEA. There are hacks of the pac games with different mazes and the hacks of the DK games are slightly different, I can't imagine it would be too tough to do. I just wish I could program so I could do it.

The Gameboy version of Donkey Kong is fairly close to this. It plays a little more like DK Jnr at times, you had to collect a key to open a door to the next level, which was rarely a straight dash to the top. But every 5 levels it was a more classic design with Mario knocking out DK in a manner similar to the last level on the original, only for him to get up & grab the girl. Get a Gameboy emlutator & give it a go.
