how do i setup my controls for mame so i can exit a game and enter a new one because i dont know how to configure escape to my controls.(more)

my panel has 6 action buttons and i have one extra button that i can combine with any of the other 6 to make buttons like coin credit, reset, and pause. Is there a way i can set up my configuration so i can enter and exit games with my panel? what do the service mode and service buttons 1-4 do??? i noticed that when i pressed coin credit, it didnt work with service set to a different button.
