: The original poster asked a simple question from a person on the MAME dev team.
The original question was accurately answered and I quote, "It's impossible to say when the next non-beta release will be. Only Nicola decides when and I bet he doesn't even have an idea of when it'll happen."
Believe it or not that is the answer. Nicola decides when (in his opinion) Mame has reached a "release" stage. Not before not after.
: : : I believe that many people just download each time a release happens. Who the heck has the time to keep up with every beta? Makes sense to me and it's a valid question.
: : I would think it would be easier to donwload 20 MB here, and 30MB there, rather than 500+MB all once at the end of a beta cycle. That, and you get to keep up with the latest games instead of waiting.
: : At any rate, the last two beta cycles went well into the teens and we are only at b11. So you may be in for a bit more waiting.
