: JerkyCade- 00.01 Early Beta Stages

:
: 10\01\99

: After dreaming about building one for 2 years, It is slowly
: coming together. I will add more stuff when the money is there.
: I started this project from stuff that I had lying around.

: Cabinet: Wizard of War (I gutted it to make a atari 2600 cabinet
: in 1985) It sat at my Dad's House for the last 10 years.

: Controls: I used the snes pads to hack. It is the superpad controllers
: made by Interact (funcoland for $5.00 ea.) I did not like the nintendo's
: pad contacts, Interact contacts are much easier to solder to.
: 2 joysticks 8 buttons each (2 are for flippers). It plugs right into
: parallel port.
: It will also be working with the powerramp for the rest of my much needed
: button controls.
: I'm building a 25 pin connector right into the powerramp for easy
: disconneting of the control panel. I could go with the scsi connector too,
: but I only need 8 or more inputs.

: Input controls: DirectPad Pro parallel port interface
: Version 5.0
: (c) 1997-9 Earle F. Philhower, III
: April 19, 1999
: http://www.ziplabel.com
: I've made 5 pc versions of these for friends and family by gutting
: out multible snes controller splitters.
: They are easy to hack and work very well with most emulators and with
: windows.

: Button layout design: From my 2 nephews Kevin and Greg, ages 14 & 15.
: What better way, then to use a teenagers input.
: They also named it JerkyCade.

: Desktop art: Kevin, My nephew, The kid can draw, check out his web page at
: http://kman.homepage.com/

: Arcade start-up and shut-down screens are from: The MAME Desktop Theme v3.5
: Created By Adam "The Quarter Guy" Lutz
: Visit the Quarter Guy's MAME Info Page At
: http://members.aol.com/adamica/arcade_emulation.html

: Monitor: 17" for now, I will have the Wells Gardner Series U3100 Monitors
: http://www.happcontrols.com/amusement/monitors/49083000.htm,
: after the holidays.

: P.C.: My old 200 megahertz pentium, 4 meg video card, sb16, 64megs of ram,
: Ethernet card, 6.4 gig hard drive, running windows '95.

: Speakers: Amplified AR's from around 1986, I've paid big bucks for them
: way back then. They were not being used so I've sandwiched them into
: the cabinet....They sound great!...more like a cd jukebox. I would like
: to add a sub woofer in the future.

: Keyboard draw: A cheap $20.00 Staple's find. I'll be spraying it black or
: boxing it in, I'm not sure yet.

: Spinner: I'm not sure were I got it, found it in the garage, in one of my
: parts boxes.

: To Do:
: 1. Install trackball and buttons at bottom of control panel.
: 2. Hack a mouse or buy Happ's interface for the spinner and the trackball.
: 3. Shorten spinner shaft.
: 3. Finish powerramp hack.
: 4. Finish cabinet, marquee and misc. B.S
: 5. Install new monitor.
: 6. Snes pad inputs in the door, so you can play sitting at a distance.
: 7. Bar stools, It sucks standing for long periods of time.
: 8. Lights, bells and whistles, horns, pinball plunger, counters, coin mechs,
: anything to be original. I love that card despensing post :).
: 9. Build more interchangable controls, Like the rest of you nuts.

: It is a endless project that I enjoy doing very much.
: I'll fill you in as it progresses.

: Thanks for the knowledge from all the pages and post that helped me out.

: http://www.arcadecontrols.speedhost.com/arcade.htm Saint's page rocks and
: I spend alot of time there. Sorry for not posting. There is an answer for
: all your problems at his site. He posted my sidewinder hack about 2 years
: ago (jerky2) Thanks Saint!!

: http://www.ArcadeAtHome.com/ for his great frontend and great reading
: on his site.

: http://snespad.emulationworld.com/ This site is devoted to snespad
: hacking. It also list all the emulators that will work with the snes pads.

: Thanks to Dave and Atila too.

: There are more sites I've missed, sorry.

: About Me: Me,me,me...lol. I'm one sick dude. I've been an a electrician for
: 20 years. I've owned about 20+ video games, most of them were sold or
: trashed through the years. I have 9 pinballs and 4 jukeboxes and no kids
: (I'm the kid). I worked at a seaside arcade from the ages of 14-16 and
: I'm now 38 years old.

: Thanks for your time,
: Bill/Jerky
