1) You've said you're not a programmer, so how do you KNOW MAME is like a bunch of patches all put together...
2) You obviously did not read the License Agreement to MAME which plainly states the mission of the project is not to play games but to DOCUMENT the hardware
3) You may not be able to afford thousands of arcade games, but that does not mean you can steal a company's product (e.g. ROM code)
and finally,
4) While your right to an opinion is valid, this is one of the most pleasant message boards around and has no place for posts that are imflammatory in nature. This board is for Arcade Controls which does not necessarily mean MAME!! If you want to vent your frustrations about MAME then you should take them elsewhere b/c they are not needed or wanted on this board.

: I'm not a programmer, as I have said. I'm just a user, and I have the right to say what I think of a program, as long as I have tried this program and I know what I should expect from an emulator. The reason for using MAME is that you cannot afford to buy and find place for hundreds of arcade machines, so your point is totally senseless.
