I am extremely interested in using a fixed freq monitor with mame. I was under the impression that a fixed freq was just that, a fixed frequency. I understood that you needed a special video card to run just that freq and that you would probly be blind to seeing standard vga resolutions (like dos or boot up).
With this understanding I assumed that the odd resolutions/freqs that get produced by mame would be incompatible. If anyone can fill me in and correct my assumptions I would greatly apreciate it.

: I have a fixed frequency monitor in my cocktail cabinet and am very happy with the results. Sooner or later I will get a video card that is supported by AdvanceMAME, and then I'm sure I'll be even more satisfied.

: Given the price of ~$90 for a 19" refurb, I think fixed frequency is the way to go.
