A few of the games in Mame are 3D. (Not many but I,Robot and STUN RUNNER come to mind).
I really doubt that 2D games will ever totally vanish. Puzzle games are just to popular. (And it will probably be another 10 years before the 2D 2 person multibutton fighter dissapears.


Mame will eventually support these newer games. It is a certainty. (Since Mame is pretty much based on drivers and is open source.)

Although one very real problem is the fact that so many of the newer 3D games use weird controls.
Such as "Top Skater" (Multi Axis Stand on Controller). "Pod Racer", (2 Very strange flight sticks). Actually I can't think of any 3D arcade games, (except for a few fighters), that use anything other than Guns, Steering Wheels, Flight Harness's, and other weird controls. (Most people just don't have those things on their Mame cabinets).

Plus "Top Skater" Just wouldn't be the same without holding onto a couple of bars and jumping all over that poor plastic board. (I broke a couple of those boards before they redesigned them).
