Commonness of machine?

I'm wondering how "common" Mortal Kombat machines are.. I just got one that got a little dinged in the move, could use 1 new piece of side art which I could get.. but is this a cabinet I should try to keep as close to original condition as possible, or should I not feel guilty about modifying it?

Also.. I have a Gauntlet II machine in good quality (except for screen burn) that would make a great 4 player cabinet due to the size of it, but part of me says modifying a Gauntlet II machine would be a sin.. opinions?
