Prophet,

Thanks for the compliments. :) I did spend quite a bit of time on it. The main reason I sold it was because I wanted to be able to play mid res games without having to switch the connector on the monitor pcb and more importantly I didn't like the way vertical games played on the monitor in horizontal mode. Due to the resolution limitations, I had to set AdvancedMAME to used mixed mode and I didn't like lines being subtracted from the display. I did try the monitor in vertical mode and it was nice but leaving it in horizontal mode is much more practical and I couldn't switch between horizontal and vertical easily. You have to physically lift the tube out and place it back. A 29" monitor is heavy, believe me! :-)

I thought about replacing the monitor with a WG-27" but figured it wouldn't fit properly and I didn't want it to look crappy so I decided to just sell it...I got all my money back including shipping (lost all my hours of work though) and put it toward the ArcadePC.

Am I happy? Yes! The ArcadePC is nice and it looks more like what you would see in an American arcade. Of course it doesn't look like a classic cabinet but how many classic cabinets had 27" monitors in them?

I must say I was more comfortable sitting on my swivel PC chair in front of the sitdown than I am sitting on a stool in front of the full-sized cabinet. I am not a purist and will not stand for hours, I am getting older and like to sit. I do stand sometime though. How did we all stand so long when we were kids?

Naturally, I won't leave well enough alone. I am going to build another control panel with a 3" Happ trackball and a Fultra spinner.

I need to write a review of the ArcadePC and will do so but I have to keep tinkering with it a little while.

BTW, the specs on this SharpImage monitor are nice. It will do 31.5-48.5 horizontal and 50-90 vertical. It's great playing Moon Patrol at 57Hz and it fills the screen. Same goes for R-type at 55Hz.

: How come you sold it? It looked really cool!

: Couldn't you have replaced the monitor with a WG D9200 in there?

: In retrospect, are you happier with the ArcadePC Fullsize now?

: Personally I'm not quite satisfied with what I have, but am waiting to land a new job (interview tomorrow) before I invest anymore serious cash into anything. I still kinda like the way those Jap cabs look, so neat and tidy and cheerful. :P Seems like one of those with a trakball and D9200 would be nearly perfect for emus. Heck for JAMMA too since the D9200 also supports 15.7Khz. Am I wrong?
