I ran a Voodoo3 3500 card at 800x600 with a Sony Trinitron 32 Inch TV via S-Video. The quality was pretty damn good. I've never heard of the problem you mentioned. It could be driver related, or there may be a problem with the card/cable.

: Side question: I had bought a used Voodoo3 3500 (TV tuner) card on eBay, based on its various features. I also wanted to eventually build a cabinet with S-Video TV (maybe 25" or larger) instead of an equivalent PC monitor.
: But only later, I had heard that there were some problems with game video having to come out in black-&-white instead of color. You say that all resolutions up to 800x600 are fine and in color? If so, that would be a relief not to have to invest in an ATI card.
