Have you ever used a router?......if you havent the base (the part that is placed flat against the wood is about 6-8 inches in diameter. The bit you use (a 16" slotting cutter)looks like a little fan with 3 blades and sticks out of the bottom. You set the length that it sticks out which will be half of the thickness of the wood. When cutting a slot in the side of the wood the router is actually placed on the side of the board and the blade cuts into side at a 90 degree angle. All you need is a steady hand and to take you time and go slow and you will cut a perfect groove every time..........
