Thanks for the suggestions! I'll try those out tonight.

Yes I still have the receipt so if I do need to return it to Hanaho it shouldn't be a problem?

: There's several possible things that could be wrong. One: the microswitch for the down direction could be bad. Test that by swapping it with one of the other three. It's easy. It should just pop right off. If you do that and the problem doesn't move to the direction you swapped with, then your problem is with either the wiring or the PCB inside the hotrod. Try squeezing the quick disconnect terminal with a plyer on the connectors to the down direction to make sure its getting good contact. Follow the wire back to the PCB and make sure it's secure there. If all that fails, then there's something wrong with the PCB and you should contact Hanaho. Don't worry about not saving the packaging, it's still legally under warranty. You have the receipt, no?

: : Today as a "thank you" for some favors done, two of my friend's surprised me with a brand new Hotrod SE joystick. My wife was going to get me this in April, but now I have it early!

: : I was so excited I tore open the package with total disregard to whether i might need to return it (they purchased it at a retail store here...not online). Well we all know what happens when we do stupid things like that....we pay for them.

: : I was playing lots of games in MAME and the thing worked great, EXCEPT the left joystick (Player 1) would not go "down" all the time. 8 times out of 10 it gets stuck and the character won't move down at all. Sometimes it unsticks and it works for a while only to screw up again in a few minutes. Needless to say this is REALLY annoying.

: : Now I unscrewed the back and the controller looks "ok". I mean i have no idea what to look for but it seems to function the same as the Player 2 stick which works fine. This problem happens if i'm light or heavy on the joystick.

: : Here's my bigger problem. Like I said, I ripped into the packaging...there is NO returning this thing. Not only that but afterwards I thumbed through the manual that came with it and it said i'm supposed to get a warranty card....well there was no warranty card anywhere!

: : My plan is to just purchase a Happs Super Joystick (black handle for $13 and change) online from Happs and replace the defective joystick myself. Thing is I am not "tool" inclined AT ALL. From looking inside it looks simple enough....just unplug the connectors, unscrew the nuts and i'm home free.

: : Does anyone know exactly what kind of wrench I need to get that sucker OUT of the Hotrod though? I would need to buy one (i have no wrenchs) and I don't know the size I need. Also it seems tight in there...is there an easy to use type of wrench that wouldn't be that expensive yet easy to use?

: : I'm sorry for the long post, but it's 2am and i'm tired and pissed at myself for not thinking. Answers to all of my questions would be great and any important info. that i might be overlooking would also be great.

: : Thanks in advance!
