It's probably because you are using the windows ME drivers for your soundblaster live. Installing the creative labs drivers should fix the speed issues.
And as far as i know windows ME dos is NOT emulated, dos is still there but it's more or less 'hidden'(and there's a patch for windows ME to boot into dos.
: : Just got a new system with Win ME and SB Live Value installed. To my dismay, DOS Mame is incredibly slow when sound is enabled (blindingly fast with no sound). I am a diehard DOS Mame user. Tried installing Win98, but ran into problems so I think I'm stuck with Win ME. Any solution besides switching to Mame32? Anyone else have this problem? Thanks!
