Well the part about it being easier to break is somewhat valid, but again, when you're just wiring a control panel and leaving it be, no worry. The only real thing I hate about using 24 awg is when I'm doing soldering - the wire is so thin that the whole thing, insulation and all, falls through the mounting hole, so it's hard to keep it in place, and also the iron heats it up too fast and the insulation melts away very easily...so for soldering on a circuit board, stick with 22 or thicker....soldering on cherry switches, not such a big deal for having insulation melt away etc.

If you were wondering what to BUY, I'd recommend the 22, it IS more durable and all that..but if you do have a big roll of 24, go ahead and use it, there's no problems with current carrying, these little computer circuits are low power and low voltage. But for recommending 18, that's getting a bit thick, especially for screw terminals with more than one wire in the same terminal....
