He is right, it won't carry much current, but 24 guage is fine for wiring your CP and buttons. There is no current to worry about with those. Take apart a mouse, or a phone (which uses 48VDC to make the ring) and you'll see 22 and 24 guage wire.

If however you want to use it to wire up something that carries current (Sub woofer, or AC power) then he is absolutely correct.
