Here are some answers to your questions.

: 1. Are any other 'build your own arcade controls' projects using them ? If so, do you have any
: email contact(s)?

Well there probably are, but not me anymore.

: 2. I heard a horrible rumour (9/10/99 message board) that only 1 key is reported at a time, is this
: true? I find this too horrible to imagine, as this would make the whole board fairly useless.

Yep, that was me that posted that.. and yep afraid its true, the USB keyboard HID (driver)only registers one keyboard input at a time, and you can only use 'a' to 'z' inputs, and you can't map the joystick to any key strokes.

: 3. Have you heard of anyone being able to integrate a Happs spinner into the UCGI kit (ie.
: possibly using one of the analog inputs)?

Hmmm I thought a spinner was optical?? I believe you can use any analogue device with the flying/driving model, but bear in mind that you need to be in Windows 98 or OSR/2 with USB support, otherwise its pointless.

: 4. Will the keyboard and mouse (ps/2) work at the same time as when the UCGI is plugged in?

Yep, they keyboard and mouse will still function.

: 5. How are the keys remapped (eg. to support the default mame layout)?

only 'a' to 'z' can be used and its awful the program that maps keys..

My view, its a great equipment for Windows the joysticks function great as a DirectInput controller, the USB trackball interface is the same as the Serial version (minus the power supply), but if you're using it to make a DOS/Arcade Monitor use, then is useless, depends if you are gonna use MAME32 or MAME.

I've hoped I helped ya..

Andy

: Thanks for everyone's help
