: Could this be done while integrating with existing MAME front-ends?

****** Yes.. What you could do, is have the "playchoice 10" Style program load up first and ask for credits.. AFter the credits are entered, you can have the program load up whatever program/Frontend/Whatever you want it to, and have the program log the Process IDs or Thread ID's the programs are running on. This way, users could freely move between frontends/emulators while they still have time. After their time is up, you'd just freeze the threads or processes and ask for more credits. If no more are entered in a certain timeframe (like a CONTINUE function), then you simply close all threads and revert back to the "asking for credits" Screen.

: You could simply reason that the users are being charged a maintenance fee - to keep the pure mechanicals running. NOTHING to do with the software within! :-)

Hah. You can Reason anything you want.... We all know what your intention is, you fiend!
