: : : Also, if you're using an I-PAC, why don't you just plug the keyboard into the I-PAC's keyboard passthru port instead of ordering a PS/2 splitter?

: :
: : Yeah, it's an older one, I'll get the upgrade kit. And I didn't realize about the keyboard passthru port.. I didn't build this thing myself but rather obtained it off someone else, and am still learning the inner workings of it. Thanks for taking the time to help a new clueless person out. :)

: No problem! We were all new once and I'm pretty clueless about Nesticle and KGen so I'm glad I could help at all. You are lucky it had the I-PAC.

: BTW, it may not be an older one, but I'm not sure how to tell. I'm enclosing a link to Andy's site. There should be information on it there. If not E-mail Andy and he should be able to tell you how to tell. If it's not an older one, you can just download the software from his site and start programming. All the info is there.

: If it is older, I think you may have to mail it in to have it upgraded. Be sure to label which terminal each wire was connected to before you send it so you done have to re-invent the wheeel.

: Welcome to the insanity.

Yeah.. I finally see where to go, it is an older board, so I'll need to upgrade, and then just configure the buttons off stuff like alt, etc (I found out in nesticle that ALT-R or ALT-A perhaps also causes the game to exit/reset .. which are buttons assigned by the default mame config and are often pressed together when playing 2 players in nesticle).. unfortunately due to the payment structure it looks like I have to order something else too.. well, I *do* have an old Gauntlet II machine I could convert, but part of me says it's wrong to destroy a near perfect Gauntlet II machine (only problem is screen burn).. but having that big of an area for buttons/sticks would be amazing..

Does it really matter what buttons I assign with a keyboard encoder? Is there going to be any issue of key jamming? I know with a keyboard that's something I would need to check with that SC2 keyjammin program, but wasn't sure if it was the same for an encoder or not.
