Yeah, according to Happ's diagram you should be able to flip over the little 'hour glass'. As far as the e-clip goes, they are usually no problem - just use a small common screwdriver, put it in one of the spaces towards the center of the 'E', then just rotate the screwdriver and it should pop right out. My problem usually isn't getting it out, but rather finding it after it flies across the room! :-) Keep in mind that the big spring inside the joystick is putting downward pressure on the actuator, so pushing down on the actuator slightly might make it easier by taking some pressure off.
