LS-30 retaining clip, HELP!!!

I can't get the retaining clip off of my LS-30's so I can install them. I have a retaining clip (c-clip) plyer set, but it just doesn't have the leverage to move the clip. ANY HELP (TRICKS) GREATLY APPRECIATED.
