question about parallel port hack

i was considering using the hacked snes controller method to the parallel port since i can use multiple snes controllers.

i was wondering how this method would work with MAME and with other arcade emulators as well as console emulators? do other emulators recoginze the parallel port?

also, in the cabinet will be a spinner and a trackball. can i use the same mouse port interface for for of these and the parallel port controllers at the same time with no problems?

i am looking for the best all around configuration for my cabinet. i am going to use two of the actlabs psychopads for the controls. (they can be used with the playstation, saturn, and the snes. i will have a playstaion and saturn in the cabinet also, so this seems the best choice.)
