Trackball/Spinner games

Ok, a stupid question and a quasi-poll here, if anyone has answers/opinions, please reply-

1. What games actually used spinners? Trackballs? I remember a few or them, but it seems my memory is foggier than I would have thought, and I've ended up being wrong about some games.

2. Obviously, for the "perfect" arcade feel, games should have the exact same interface as they were designed for, but how vital are these controls? In your opinion, are some games ruined by not having the appropriate control? Can a joystick ever truly replace a spinner? Can a trackball make a decent spinner replacement? (What if you just "turned off" one of the trackball axis?)

Sorry for so many questions... After almost finishing my DC/Mac controller, I've finally decided to take the plunge and make my own Cabinet. Eventually, I'm sure it will have both a spinner and trackball in some context, I just can't decide how much of a priority it is now, and was wondering other people's opinions.
