dreamcast keyboard?

I was wondering does anyone know if the dreamcast keyboard can be used as a controller?
If so, I'm thinking something like this http://www.buyrite1.com/dreamcas/images/pcdclink.jpg
could be used to connect up existing keyboard hacks.
