I was afraid the first time I capped a monitor...I would suggest doing it if the picture is dim or has jailbars...or if it bends at the top or bottom.

I suggest if you are going to do it...that you go to Radio Shack and buy a de-soldering iron. I suggest the iron with the squeeze bulb. I think they cost around $9 and they make the job MUCH easier.
Just be sure to sort the caps and change them one at a time ( pull one...install new....pull one, install new...etc)
Often the results are amazing. I had a Donkey Kong that barely had any picture at all...I capped it and the picture looked brand new !
