Just do yourself a favor and buy an ISA SB AWE card.

I Have the same Ensoniq card you speak of (1370?), and although I did eventually get it to work, DOS MAME sounds better through the ISA card.

: Unfortunatley this card does not have a DOS driver I have tried many times to get it to work under dos and have been unsucessfull. I really do not think it is possible Creative does not even give you a dos driver on the cd or offer one on the internet. It has been discussed here a few times and I don't think anyone has found a solution for any Creative (Ensonic) PCI soundcards to work under DOS. Though I did see something a while back I think Nivo Posted that on the sound blaster Live CD there is a dos directory and setup file but you have to modify the ini file in the DOS directory to get the setup to work I believe setup will also only work in Win9x) I haven't tried any of this so you may have to do some experimenting. I would try this but the usual answer to this question is get your hands on a sound blaster16.

: : Hey folks,

: : I'm trying to get a new PC set up with ArcadeOS and MAME in straight DOS (Not a Win98 DOS box) and having some trouble getting my sound card to work.

: : First of all, I have a card that's got an Ensoniq chip on it, but Windows detected it as a Soundblaster 64 PCI. I think it's just the Ensoniq clone though. ANYWAY, when I boot into DOS, I can't seem to get ArcadeOS to initialize the card. I have tried Soundblaster, Soundblaster32, and Ensoniq, and all 3 don't seem to work for me.

: : Under a Win98 DOS box, I did get ArcadeOS to start a ROM, but it locks up almost immediately (on the text OK screens).

: : Can anyone with this card (or anyone at all) tell me what I can put into my config.sys or autoexec.bat on my DOS boot disk to get ArcadeOS to find this card without a problem?

: : Thanks for any help!
