: I just ordered one of these (I am assuming that is what you were thinking about buying) and it does not look like a good solution for playing Tron. I can always remember playing the MCP Cone part of tron and hitting the button really quickly to kill all the parts. Well, on this joystick the top button just doesn't feel right. I don't have it hooked up yet (I'll be reporting on it soon) but I do not think it is going to be a good replacement for a "Tron-type" joystick.

I hear your point, However I believe it is a VERY good comprimise. I've given serious thought to the control pannel issue over the last .5 years, and unless you absoultely need to have the Pistol grip joystick for the relatively few number of games that use it (under MAME), the top-fire joystick from Happs is a good replacement as it offers the capability to actually play tron and other games with similiar requirements of using the spinner (DOT, Zwackery, etc...)

My personal goal is to create a control pannel that, first, allows you to physically play the majority of arcade games, then second, is faithfull to the feel of the majority of arcade games. I have rulled out any pistol grip joystick due to the relatively few games that support it, and the fact that I can get away with using the top-fire Happs as a repacement, while keeping the standard 8-way "Bat" type configuration. (Just my opinion. Open to hear others)
