Ah! Now I see what you wanting... Mmmm, it seems like you just want a wireless Hotrod... that might be a little tricky - I'm not quite sure how you'd be able to pull that particular stunt... sorry!

: I don't want ANY cables coming out of my HotRod OR Keyboard. I want them both to be wireless. I wanted to know if logitech or any other companies are making RF transmitters that plug into a serial keyboard port that talk to standard RF receivers. This would also be handy to use for any keyboard that I liked (rather than having to buy those shitty small wireless keyboards that seem to be made only for people surfing the web).

: : The wireless keyboard and mouse I have is a Logitech device set up like this:

: : You plug a receiver unit into the the mouse AND keyboard ports. The mouse and keyboard then transmit to the receiver unit which passes the signal down to the keyboard/mouse ports as if there was a keyboard/mouse directly plugged in...

: : Connecting an encoder (or a Hotrod up if it has a passthru) should be as simple as connecting the RF receiver unit into the 'passthru' and then the regular encoder/Hotrod cable on into the keyboard port. The mouse is a little trickier with the Hagstrom encoders since they don't have a mouse passthrough. Since the Logitech receiver has seperate mouse and keyboard cables though, it's just a matter of plugging the receiver mouse cable and the Hagstrom encoder mouse cable into a Y-mouse cable before plugging the Y-mouse into the mouse port... Voila... you're now setup!!

: : Ok, this is mostly theory since I haven't finished trying this out, but the keyboard portion should work flawlessly...

: : : How do you get your Hotrod (or similar controller) wireless if you have a typical wireless keyboard and mouse? Don't you need an RF transmitter that also plugs into the serial keyboard port? The only RF transmitters I've seen are all wired into the keyboard and mice themselves. I've never seen a standalone transmitter that will either plug into a PS/2 or keyboard serial port. Anyone seen anything like this? Thanks!

: : :
: : : : After seeing a post on this sort of thing a while ago I plonked down $25 and bought this IR device that plugs in your serial port. It includes a DOS TSR that basically allows you to use most remote controls and translate them into key presses. Unfortunately, it doesn't work with MAME, b/c (I think) of MAME being a protected mode program. So I went with a RF remote keyboard and mouse which actually will work out better anyway since I will still retain ALL of the keyboard functionality without wires etc. going everywhere...

: : : : The Logitech product I bought has an RF receiver which plugs into both the mouse and keyboard ports, so technically it should work fine with a Hagstrom encoder with a keyboard pass-thru... the mouse will probably have to go through a Y-plug though since the KE72-T I have doesn't appear to have a mouse pass-thru...

: : : : : This seems tobe unexplored territory. I have a couple of remotes(wireless and not) that have 28 programmable keys(just like yours) that I plan to perform experimental hacks on. I got them for around 3 to 5 bucks a piece.
