In Reply to: Can I Interface My Hotrod SE With a Coin Door? posted by Brad on 8, 2001 at 11:15 AM:

...wire the coin door switch to whatever button on the Hotrod SE that you use to enter a coin in MAME; by this I mean wire the coin door switch in parallel with the button. IMO it's not really worth the trouble unless you are building your own controller and you have the extra inputs on your encoder. I have my coin door wired and it's cool for show but I hardly ever use it.

: Hey folks, I'm currently working on converting an old Asteroids cabinet into a MAME cabinet, and want to thank you all for
: posting your information and experiences on the web, it's been most helpful in getting started.

: Now, my question - Due to a really good half-price deal on the Hotrod SE going on right now, I decided to buy the SE panel
: instead of build a custom panel. The Hotrod panel will handle most of what I want to do, for starters anyway, except
: without an interface board I can't see if there's a way that I can put a working coin door in there that actually caused
: the game to respond and take a credit when a quarter is inserted. So, does anyone know, can I somehow interface the coin
: door to the Hotrod SE and make this happen?

: Thanks for any help!
