: =)

: Why are some games considered classic and remade over and over for new game systems while other games, that are also great and fun, nearly forgotten (by game companies anyway)?

: just wondering aloud...

Well keep in mind that the gaming business makes games in order to make money. Because of this, companies decide to "remake" a game based on how well they think it will sell. When companies remake a game, they count on a large number of people to buy it because they have played and liked the original. The good games that don't get remade could be "forgotten" for a number of reasons. The most common reason is that the game is not well known, so companies don't think that enough people will buy it because they enjoyed the original. Another reason could be that no company that currently produces games owns the rights to the original (Hasbro bought the rights to a lot of Atari's older games and has had some successful updates of classic games). Another reason could be that the original isn't suited for a remake (Tapper, for example, is popular and well known, but a remake couldn't really expand upon the original very well).
