Hi,

I'm am asking this for a friend.....
Here is what he wants to do.

There will be a computer on the first floor of the house and he wants to be able to control it from a second location upstairs. So a second monitor, keyboard and mouse will be needed. I know this can be done with a switch box but can they just both be hooked up at the same time without any switching mechanism. Also, what is the maximum length the lines can be for the other devices? It is going to be on another floor so I imagine he will need it to be pretty far.

Will this require 2 video cards?

Also, would it be possible to do this from a 3rd location.

I have never tried anything like but I may also need to do something like this myself in the future.....

Any help?
