I also highly recommend keeping up with the MAME betas. Don't let the word beta scare you! Truthfully, all MAME's are betas anyway. :P But seriously, tons of great stuff is added during the beta cycles, and you really miss out on a LOT by waiting for the next full release.
I also HIGHLY recommend Raine if u haven't tried it yet. Great emulator, and very, very fast. :)
