: New stuff below...

: : I checked on the U3100 and the best settings
: : according to their
: : support is to set the monitor to display in
: : 800x600 60Hz 37.79Khz I tried these settings
: : on mine and all of you above games look great!

: How do you adjust the Hz the monitor is running at? I have no clue if mine is set right...
Go to Control Panel/Display then set it to 800x600
Then click Advanced then Adjustment (Note I have an Ati Graphics card that provides
these drivers, other cards may be similar?)
Then set the refresh (V-freq) to 60Hz. Adjust the
H-freq using the click arrows to ~37.79. The screen should look
centered and clear when properly adjusted.
: : They all fit perfectly on the screen and have bright vivid colors.
: : In mame you need to set it to a default of 800x600. I then
: : set robotron back to 640x480 since I like it bigger and it
: : fits fine on the screen. Neogeo are a bit small but
: : the higher resolution makes them more detailed.

: Whenever I set some games (Simpsons comes to mind) to 800x600 the game screen actually gets smaller than when set to auto size. It fits good on auto, but takes less than 1/2 the screen when I try to set it...any ideas or is this normal?
Auto seems to be a poor choice when using the U3100(Its great for modern pc monitors) since it
can send the monitor out of spec. Out of spec setting can cause get headaches like killing windows
vga drivers(boot in safe mode and fix) or frying your monitor :-(. I don't usually try mame betas
so I haven't tried the Simpsons, but generally if you run in 800x600 you will have more detail, but
smaller picture. Try setting the resolution for that game in mame to suit your preference (don't
go above 800x600).
