Ok, I wired pots to the pins described below, and plugged the cord into the game port. Windows does not see a joystick at all. I try to add a standard 2 axis 2 button joystick with the control panel, but I just get the message "not connected." How do I get it to be seen by the system?

: Depends if you are making a custom joysticks, like me then you don't need a Y-Splitter cable, just one 15pin Joypad cable..

: Here are the relevant pins to get X-Axis 1,2, Y-Axis 1,2

: Pin #1 - Potentiometer Common lug Joystick "A"
: Pin #3 - Joystick "A" X Axis
: Pin #6 - Joystick "A" Y Axis)
: Pin #9 - Potentiometer Common lug Joystick "B"
: Pin #11 - Joystick "B" X axis
: Pin #13 - Joystick "B" Y axis

: Connect Pin #1 and Pin #3 to a pot for X-Axis 1
: Connect Pin #1 and Pin #6 to a pot for Y-Axis 1
: Connect Pin #9 and Pin #11 to a pot for X-Axis 2
: Connect Pin #9 and Pin #13 to a pot for Y-Axis 2

: I recommend looking at them steering wheel links on from this page

: Full of good information about wiring up pedals and pot steering wheels..
