I also have the same problem with US imports, until I found out that there's a company here in Spain that sells arcade components. I took a look at Industrias Lorenzo webpage, in search of a stick and some buttons and I was amazed to see the variety of models they have, but I was not very sure about their quality. I was interested in the acclaimed Happs Super Joystick, and comparing the pictures they have with those in Happs webpage, I could notice that some of them were identical. I e-mail them with your same doubts (can a private person buy components directly to them, and is there a model that is exactly the same as Happs Supers?). They answered, and said that I can buy directly to them (no matter if I just need one stick and a bunch of buttons only) and that its model 3R Compact Joystick (A-03221 Mando Compacto 3R) is exactly the same as Happs Supers (same reference number). The state that, in fact, the colaborate with Happs and distribute their products, and in the case of joysticks, push buttons, steering wheels, coin doors, it is Industrias Lorenzo the company that makes them, whilst Happs is the distributor. The prices: one of these sticks I've mentioned is 1700 ptas. I didn't ask about push buttons, but I think they are 300 ptas each. Translated to German (1700 ptas = 19,98 DEM, 300 ptas = 3,53 DEM). I have not bought any components to them yet, but I don't think there would be any problem, this being a Spanish company. Exports to Germany may be a little more expensive, but not much.
