I wondered about this myself when I first installed two Happs rotary switch sticks as part of a four stick panel (designed with two-player Smash TV in mind.)
Even though each player in Smash TV ends up using one Happs rotary and one Happs super stick, there really isn't any noticeable difference. In fact, since I installed the rotary sticks, a few people have played through full games of Smash TV and nobody has even mentioned that one joystick seems different than the other... They also work just fine when I use the panel for single stick games.
So the short answer to your question is: The Happs rotary switch sticks have worked just fine in regular joystick games.
