Darren,

I've been running 98SE for months without a hitch using MAME32. Simply put, it won't crap out in the middle of a good game and many of the features of MAME32 ( and Win98SE ) are very convenient. I've never had it crash in the middle of a game or otherwise...and this is testimony coming from an admitted Windows/Microsoft hater. Why do you want to use the PS/2 and Serial ports at the same time? If it's for dual mouse support ( mouse/trackball ) you might look into USB and PS/2...I've used a USB and PS/2 mouse together on my desktop system ( 98SE ) for some time and they both work at once.

: Can I get experiences and recommendations involving the reliability of Windows when playing MAME games? How often does one's system crash under these circumstances? Obviously running everything from DOS would be better in that respect, but I'm trying to get an idea of the frequency of Windows related problems. I'd hate to be two hours into a high scoring game, only to have my system decide to quit, necessitating a re-start or re-boot. As far as minimizing problems, are there any recommendations concerning versions of Windows, MAME for Windows, partitioning, or anything else?

: Thanks a lot.
