It all depends on your system, drivers installed, irqs, dmas, etc. Playing for several hours on my Win98 system is no problem. Avoid WinME, WinNT, and Win2K if you want to use DOS programs.

: Can I get experiences and recommendations involving the reliability of Windows when playing MAME games? How often does one's system crash under these circumstances? Obviously running everything from DOS would be better in that respect, but I'm trying to get an idea of the frequency of Windows related problems. I'd hate to be two hours into a high scoring game, only to have my system decide to quit, necessitating a re-start or re-boot. As far as minimizing problems, are there any recommendations concerning versions of Windows, MAME for Windows, partitioning, or anything else?

: Thanks a lot.
