Of course, the problem with that is two things... one is that keyboards aren't like they used to be and are hard to hack. They don't use solder points anymore. Second, you have to be carefull about the keyboard encoder matrix. Depending on how the matrix is set up, you can't press two of the same type of button at the same time.
A cheap keyboard encoder would fix this, but two gamepads may still be the cheaper solution.
