I used 2 sidewinder gamepads. Not only do I have 2 joysticks and 20 buttons. But on the front of my cabinet, I have a port where a person can plug in an actual third (and fourth) sidewinder gamepad(s) to play 4 player games. We had 4 people going on X-Men this weekend. Worked great!
I think the capability to add a third and a fourth gamepad adds a lot to the cabinet. No need for some poor fool to sit out and wait a turn.
