Okay, I've done some searching and it would seem that I have a Biostar MB 8500TVX-A motherboard.
Can be viewed at :
http://www.fujitsusiemens.co.uk/gb/techsupport/Consumer/old_con/mbs/Biostar8500TVX.htm
According to the specs on this page it would seem to indicate that it can only take up to a 233Mhz processor? Yes/No?
What's the best processor I can safely put in this motherboard and run it without crashes/lockups.
Thanks.

: your best bet is to get a K6/2 (i think) this totally depends on the voltage that your mobo can
: send to the chip. your thing about them not being
: reliable is based on 4 year old news. i have had
: a string of AMD chips and none of them have given
: me any trouble.
: as long as you are running pure dos, 32meg should
: be ok.
: i doubt that the video card will make that much
: of a difference. its your cpu that is slowing you
: down.
