I used 3/4" oak plywood for my panel. I used thread inserts which I glued in under the panel and the used cap screws from the bottom to hold the joysticks in. I have had it for almost a year now and I haven't had any problems with it comming loose. I actually only have two bolts per joystick since I can rotate the two inside ones to play two player two joystick games and this makes it go quicker. I thought it would compromise the strength by doing this, but like I said, it's been almost a year and no problems. I like the underside mounting because of the clean look you get on the top. Good Luck!!

Game on!! Brian

: I just finished mounting my joysticks to a 3/4 inch piece of pressboard covered with laminate. I was going to use through bolts on the panel but figured I could get a better look by just mounting the joysticks from the bottom with wood screws. They mounted fine and they play great (I put it through a few days of abuse with the family in town). I have searched the archives and the message board and found that a few of you have done this but there is no follow-up to this method. I am curious as to whether this will be strong enough for my home machine? Has anyone used this method and had problems, if so please give me some pros and cons, it is no skin off my back to go back and use through bolts to prevent future problems.

: TIA
