2 Questions for WG U3100 owners - please help...

I might be getting a WG U3100, but I really could use some experienced people to help answer some technical questions...

1) Does it truly support 800x600? I ask this because its top horizontal scan rate is listed as 35.5khz, which seems a bit small for 800x600. My card does around 37khz at 60hz in 800x600/400x300. Without 400x300, I can kiss Pacman bye bye, and I cannot do that!

2) If you send a signal that is beyond the listed scan rate ranges, will that damage the monitor, or simply not display?
