: : : : : Help! I would like info on constructing an arcade joystick for the Sega Dreamcast. I purchased a "Made in China" twin stick and it went bonkers after just two weeks. Can anyone refer me to a good web site?

: : : : Are you building a regular joystick controller or a twin stick controller? For regualar joysticks try hacking the NYKO Dream Master gamepad, two extra digital buttons on the pad act as the analog triggers. What kind of problem do you have with your twin sticks? Are you using the Saturn version with an adapter? Most of those adapters are defective.

: : I'm using Blaze Twin Shock Joystick----got it from EBWorld. The Y and B buttons at times work fine individually, but NOT in tandem, i.e. I can not switch to my second character. At times one of these buttons goes dead--no response, which makes Supers impossible to do.

: : Thanks for the Nyko suggestion. I hear HAPP only sells to business. Is this true? I would love to only replace the switches on the Twin Shock and keep its housing.

: : Thanks!

: You can buy from Happs, if they ask for a business name then make one up, that's what I do :). Ordering on-line is really easy.

: You can also buy microswitches from The Real Bob Roberts, check the links section. There's two kinds of switches, one kind has a little metal actuator that makes contact with the joystick.

: Replacement Cherry Microswitches .187 tabs
: Replacement Cherry " " .187 tabs w/actuators

: You could hack two dreamcast gamepads and rewire the whole twin shock if you really want to fix the buggy control problem.

Thanks for the tips, Zapper! Are you implying that my problem is with the Twin Shock's "motherboard"
and not its plastic switches? I don't want to sacrifice my Sega brand controller if the problem is just the plastic buttons themselves.

Thanks again.
