Don't let Windows manage virtual memory, instead specify a size yourself about 1.5x to 2.0x the amount of RAM you have. The activity is most likely Windows resizing the swapfile because of varying loads on the machine.

: I have just upgraded to Windows ME and have noticed that while playing games (even older 80's games) in Mame32, the hard disk keeps whiring away, resulting in slowing down the gameplay.

: I have 256mb ram so I have no idea why it does this, any ideas if their is anyway to stop it happening.

: Thanks for any help
