: : Is this one of the wico balls? I just ruined 2 mice trying to hook this thing up. I would love to help you but I think I am going to buy one of the new ps/2 trackballs that everyone is talking about (imperial???). Look at the jamma2pc homepage (you can find a link to it - kinda - at the top of this message board) and you will see some info for hooking up the wico ball.
: I will trade you straight across a working hacked WICO trackball for your unhacked one!
: There isn't anything wrong with mine it works perfectly!
: Let me know!

I don't think its a WICO tackball, its for Atari home computers, not arcade machines. It states on the box that it will work with any joystick game and has the standard atari joystick connector. I've looked at the PCB & the cables that run from it. As its meant for an 8-bit console and replaces the joystick, can I run new cables straight to the Up down left & right on my I-pac (I think I'll try this anyway, I just didn't want to risk breaking anything)? Will this generate the wrong type of signal (digital as opposed to analog)? - Are trackballs analog or digital.
A further question - I open my three button mouse to use the PCB, and noticed there are not enough wires for x-y +3 buttons. Can anyone tell me how the serial port/mouse is wired?
I like the look of the Imperial trackball and if this doesnlt work, thats what I'll get. This is a fraction of the price though plus I'm in the UK and shipping will be high. Does anyone know of a UK/European supplier of these PS2 trackballs?
