I did the rotating monitor thingy and was disappointed. The mech for turning worked great, but the color shift every time I rotated it drove me nuts. I ended up abandoning rotation idea (after investing at least $250 to make it work) and installed the largest-size monitor the cabinet can hold (27"). Now I'm satisfied, except for vertical Midway-Namco conversions (like Galaga) and Williams (like Sinistar). MAME doesn't handle their resolutions well so the screen ends-up either too large (and chopped-off) or tiny. It only happens when you try to display them on a horizontal monitor screen. I'm still working on this, but I'm much happier now with the MEGA sized horizontal monitor.
