I disagree. With any control panel, you must drill 1 1/8" holes. I find that partical board crumbles around the edges and does not hold up over time. I used 3/4" finished plywood. It painted well, cut well, and drilled well. It holds a T-slot groove well. You will still need a Trackball plate though. I also extended the shaft of my spinner 3/4 inch to accomodate.

A quarter panel of 3/4" finished plywood sells for less than $10.00.

: Really, any type of wood would be fine. Particle board seems to be the most popular.. mainly because it's cheap, and you don't need to do any sanding or whatnot to it before you paint. =P So yeah. I'd say go with particle-board.
