Any other good games like Blacktiger? Not really like Blacktiger but try Psychic 5 by Jaleco, must be the most under estimated platform game of 87!

This is one of my all time favorites (I don't know how many games I written that about ;)

Now, what can I say about it to get you interested... Well let's quote some from the MAME history.dat:

A little game which had not a huge success, but nevertheless was a "cult game" for many players thanks to the brilliant gameplay, hard-to-find secret bonuses and anime-like plot. The inspiration for the five ESPers design comes from several japanese cartoons of the '70s where the physical aspect of main characters was strongly stereotyped to suit their psychological profile/fighting ability.

And finally some from the "Psychic 5 Strategy Guide" web-site (http://home.netvigator.com/~tarot/Games/Psychic5/index.html):

The game is about 5 brave Espers trying to defeat Zara the witch and Satan the devil in various locations (scenes). The game has the interesting element in that, while in most action games back then, the player character is a hopeless victim of gravity, in this game the Espers have the ability to hover in mid-air. (This concept has been inherited from Bomb Jack.) This not only allows them to stay in place for a while, but also they can move around horizontally while hovering. Hovering is an exceptionally powerful ability in the hands of experienced Psychic 5 players.

The game also has a very detailed scoring system. The stages are littered with secrets and bonuses, and there are also bonuses to reward skillful play.

So what are you all waiting for? Type "MAME psychic5" and hit

Game on / EmuMannen

: I love this game by Capcom. It blows away any other game of 1987 in terms of techology, and in terms of playability is among the best platform games of all time. No need to talk about graphic and sounds: absolutelly briliant. The only thing I'm missing is a second scroll, for the background. I hope some day there's somebody able to hack it and make a remake with improved graphics and two parallax scrolls. For me, Capcom was one of the best videogame companies of the late eighties and the beginning of the nineties. Games like Blacktiger, the outstanding Forgotten Worls and the CPS1 games are good examples. Then they came with CPS2, which I have never seen in action, but the screens look excellent. I hope somebody release a emu soon. But, talking of action platform games (one of my fac genres), could you tell me of any other good games like Blacktiger, but more recent? There are some good games in this style like Magic Sword, but it lacks the incredible playability of Blacktiger, with the possiblity to jump and move horizontalty and vertically, climbing the columns and shooting at the same time... In case you don't know, there's another modern platform game that noone should miss: Biomechanical Toy. It's a Spanish game made in 1995, and it's one of the best I've tried. Good graphics, lots of action, excelent animation and playability (I love that multidirectional high-cadency autofire). It works better with Raine.
