: I have been trolling this forum and visiting many sites for a couple of months and decided to take the plunge and build my own cabinet. I have a couple (possibly stupid) questions I need to ask.
: 1.Anyone know of any sites with the exact dimensions of cabinets? I’ve found the defender one but I have not been able to find any other.
Well, I have the dimensions to both of my cabinets on my site: http://www.arcadeparadise.org (yeah, I know...shameless plug). My cabinet is quite a bit bigger than your average cab, but that's only because I'm a 6'4" gork. The dimensions to the Defender cab are were I started too, but just make sure that your cabinet is comfortable to YOU.
: 2.I thought I heard somewhere the IPAQ device supports 8 buttons per player, not the 6 claimed on the IPAQ site. True? (gotta love a no muss, no fuss device)
I haven't used the IPAC, so I can't comment on it. Plenty of people here have, though. Fellas?
: 3.Is all this work worthwhile just to play crazy climber again?
Oh, hell YEAH. It really is. Crazy Climber (like Robotron, another two-stick game) just isn't playable any other way. The first time that you spark the cabinet up, and load Crazy Climber with a stick in each hand, you'll have your answer. BTW, Phydeaux's right: You'll look like a loon to everyone else...but the line to play on your cab will be long. Trust me. :)
: 4.Real stupid question – what gage wire to use?
I used 22 AWG, and it worked out great.
: 5.What Video cards support all the resolutions of the games? I plan on using a 21" PC monitor.(I know the answer is go for an ATI card, but I need confirmation, My Nvidia GTS card pisses me off that I can’t do certain resolutions.)
I've used both a Diamond Stealth 3D 3000 4MB PCI and a SiS 6326 8 MB AGP, and both worked out great. Especially since you're using a PC monitor, you really don't need anything fancy at all.
: Any help is greatly appreciated. (Oh, and I'm sure I'll be back with even dumber questions)
Bring 'em on. That's what it's all about! :)
